Our itinerary
Day 1 To Belgium for an overnight stay.
Day 2 To the Rhine Valley and the town of Boppard, where you can join an optional cruise on the Rhine, before travelling to the gentler Moselle Valley, where you can sample the wines at the House of Anton Hammes. Overnight in the Rhine/Moselle Valley area. B,D
Day 3 On through Germany, calling at Rothenburg Ob Der Tauber on the aptly named Romantic Road, before crossing to Austria and St. Johann in Pongau in the Salzburgerland area, our base for three nights. B,D
Day 4 To Salzburg, The ‘Sound of Music’ city, where you can enjoy an optional guided sightseeing tour. In the afternoon, we head to the Wolfgangsee, then to picture-postcard Hallstatt. B,D
Day 5 Grossglockner Glacier (included). We journey along one of the most spectacular roads in Austria, ascending the country’s highest mountain along the Grossglockner Hochalpenstrasse. Continue to Heiligenblut before returning through the Tauern tunnel. B,D
Day 6 Cross into Slovenia and the resort of Kranjska Gora for two nights, arriving early afternoon. Join an optional excursion to the nearby town of Tarvisio. B,D
Day 7 We visit the ‘jewel’ of Lake Bled. Join our optional sightseeing tour to the Castle of Bled and continue by gondola-style boat to the tiny island. B,D
Day 8 Leave Slovenia and call at the resort of Cortina d’Ampezzo and journey (weather permitting) through the lofty peaks of the Dolomite mountains. We stay in the Süd Tirol overnight. B,D
Day 9 Call at Innsbruck, then journey into Switzerland to St. Moritz for time at leisure before continuing to our hotel for an overnight stay. B,D
Day 10 The Mountain Pass Tour (included). Our route to Sierre for a two-night stay takes in some of Europe’s grandest passes. We traverse the heights of the Julierpass and the Paseo del San Bernadino, then climb the dramatic Simplon Pass. B,D
Day 11 Travelling by coach to the town of Täsch, we then take the train to Zermatt. Join the optional train ride on the Gornergrat Mountain Railway for the best views of the Matterhorn. B,D
Day 12 We descend to the shores of Lake Geneva and visit Evian and Geneva itself. Continue to our hotel in the Bex area. B,D
Day 13 To northern France for an overnight stay. B
Day 14 To Calais then return home. B

You’ll stay for one night at a 3-star standard hotel in the Rhine/Moselle Valley area; three nights at the 4-star Pichler’s Sporthotel in St. Johann in Pongau or similar in Austrian Salzburgerland, two nights at the 3-star Hotel Alpina or similar in Kranjska Gora; one night in a 2-star hotel in the Italian Süd Tirol; one night at the 3-star Hotel Solaria or similar in Bivio near St. Moritz; two nights at the 3-star Atlantic Hotel in Sierre; and one night at the 3-star Hotel Le Cedre or similar in Bex, near Lake Geneva. Overnight stays in Belgium and northern France are in city-style hotels.
