Excursions and visits
Castel Gandolfo and Frascati (included). We pay a short visit to the small town of Castel Gandolfo (home of the Pope’s summer residence), overlooking Lake Albano, then travel to Frascati, home of the region’s famous wine.
Rome (included). A full day discovering the delights of the ‘eternal city’. Our included guided sightseeing tour by coach and on foot takes in St. Peter’s Square, the Trevi Fountain and the Romans’ greatest amphitheatre – the Colosseum!
Rome (included) & The Vatican (optional). A further chance to explore Rome, perhaps revisiting some of yesterday’s sights. Discover the treasures of the Vatican on our optional guided tour. Escorted by a local guide, you will take in the awe-inspiring frescoes in the Sistine Chapel. In 1508 Pope Julius della Rovere commissioned Michelangelo to repaint the Chapel’s ceiling. He was later commissioned to paint ‘The Last Judgement’ over the altar. We will also visit St. Peter’s Square where some of the most important Papal ceremonies take place.
Ostia Antica (optional). Surviving erosion and stone scavengers, this fantastic ancient Roman village contains some of the best-preserved and historically significant Roman excavations in the world. Must-sees include the theatre and the public latrine, complete with revolving door, running water and seating for 20!

Your hotel
You’ll stay for five nights at the 4-star Hotel La Meridienne located on the outskirts of Rome in Palestrina. The hotel has a bar, restaurant and outdoor swimming pool (seasonal). All bedrooms have satellite T.V., telephone, mini bar and air conditioning.

Flying start/return.
If you prefer, you can choose to travel by air. Take a ‘flying start’ and join the tour directly on day 2, and/or choose a ‘flying return’ departing for home on day 7. Flights are to/from Rome. Please call for full details of flights prices/times. Please note: If you choose flying start, your departure date will be one day later than that shown in the price panel.
