Excursions and visits
Cochem and the Moselle Valley (optional) and Winetasting (optional). We begin at Koblenz, where the Rhine and Moselle rivers meet, then continue along the Moselle Valley to charming Cochem.  Later enjoy an optional winetasting at th House of Anton Hammes in Alken.  There's a tour though the cellars full of fine vintages, with the chance to sample and buy.
Rüdesheim (included). We visit the picturesque riverside ‘wine town’ of Rüdesheim, where we can explore the lively Drosselgasse, a narrow street with cosy cafés, shops and bars. In the afternoon, perhaps join an optional sightseeing drive by little road train, which includes a visit to a vineyard/wine cellar and Siegfried's Mechanical Music Museum, with its fascinating self-playing musical instruments.
Rhine Valley (optional, included on Silver Service) and River Rhine Cruise (optional). Marvel at the superb medieval castles and vineyards; the world-famous Loreley Rock; Boppard, with its splendid Rhine Promenade; charming Barcharach and St. Goar, home to the world’s largest cuckoo clock shop. The perfect way to view the Rhine is from the water. The optional cruise lasts for approximately 1 1/4 hours and takes us through the Rhine gorge, famous for its picturesque villages, vine-clad slopes and many ancient castles (Kaub, Cat and Mouse, to name a few). 

Your hotels
You’ll stay for four nights at the well-appointed, traditional 3-star Hotel Alte Bauernschänke in charming Assmannshausen in the Rhine Valley.  The hotel, owned by the Berg family who have been welcoming Leger guests for many years, is typically ‘Rhineland’ in style,  with an atmosphere to match, and the building is over 600 years old. There’s a lift, restaurant and large bar area. All bedrooms have T.V., telephone and safe.
Please note: 5GMLV June 22 departure will stay at the 3-star standard Hotel Lamm in Assmannshausen.
