Included excursions First, a trip to Normandy and the lovingly restored Monet’s Garden at Giverny, source of as much pleasure today as it was to its creator. Here, where the painter lived until his death in 1929, the perspectives, symmetries and colours of the flower garden and water garden were the inspiration for some of his most famous works The day continues with a visit to the royal town of Versailles, home to the simply exquisite palace and gardens created by King Louis XIV in the 17th century. No expense was spared in the creation of the sumptuously decorated palace, best known for its hall of mirrors, which was previously used for lavish celebrations. The 800-hectare gardens, one of France’s most visited attractions and a World Heritage Site, contain meticulously manicured lawns, colourful flowerbeds and masterfully sculptured statues and fountains.
