Holiday itinerary
Day 1 To the Reims area for our overnight stay.
Day 2 We continue towards Switzerland, reaching Meiringen for a six night stay.
Days 3 to 7 Enjoy some time at leisure in the lovely resort of Meiringen, famous as the home of the meringue and as the place where Sherlock Holmes met his end. During your stay we also offer three exciting included excursions on the region’s scenic railways.
Day 8 With memories of wonderful Swiss rail journeys, we bid farewell to Meiringen and head to the Champagne region for our overnight stay.
Day 9 To Calais for the crossing to Dover and homeward bound.

Included excursions Golden Pass Railway
Full day Lake Lucerne by GoldenPass Railway - Sit back, relax and take in the magnificent scenery as we travel on board the GoldenPass Panoramic Railway to Lucerne, with its lovely old quarter and little wooden bridges. An optional lake cruise is available before we return to Meiringen by coach.
Full day Grindelwald by Jungfrau Railway - A spectacular journey on board Jungfrau Railways to the mountain resort of Grindelwald, situated in a spectacular position nestling under the three peaks of the Wetterhorn, Mettenberg and Eiger. After time at leisure we return to the hotel by coach.
Half day Brienz and the Rothorn Railway - To the lakeside town of Brienz, a famous woodcarving centre, before an exciting rail journey from Brienz to the summit of the Rothorn, a scenic ride offering splendid views.

Parkhotel du Sauvage, Bernese Oberland
Built in early Jugendstil way back in 1880, the Parkhotel du Sauvage enjoys a town centre location in the lovely resort of Meiringen, home of the meringue. Set in its own parkland with a lovely sunbathing area, the hotel is close to the town’s attractions, including the Sherlock Holmes Museum, with its authentic replica of Conan Doyle’s front room at 221b Baker Street.
